The Retiree Council met on this date at 1300 hours. The following Board of Directors were present, Vice President Fred Gustin, Treasurer Ron Kroon, Secretary Jerry Chenoweth. Members at Large. Al Peate, Ollie Sapp, and Bill Nelson.
Fred called the meeting to order. The minutes of the previous meeting were read. There were no additions or corrections. The minutes stand as read.
Treasurer's report was given by Ron. We have 594 members of which 59 are widows.
OLD BUSINESS:
Bill reported he followed up on placing a separate phone for the council in the office we share. This will be done at a time of their convenience. This will help so we will not conflict with the person we share the office with.
The Board members discussed the wording for one year free membership offered to new retirees and past retirees. It will be aligned with the present rules for dues. This free one year membership we hope to reach some newly retirees and retirees close to age 60. Fred will work on the wording and will report next month.
NEW BUSINESS:
Al gave the Board members copies of an article by Tom Philpott / April 28, 2006 titled PANEL VOTES TO BLOCK TRICARE HIKES, BUMP '07 PAY RAISE. We will follow this action by Congress as it affects all retirees.
Ollie was contacted by LTC Murphy with a request for a list of our membership. His office is trying to locate some retirees' address's that are not in their records. The Board agreed to his request as it will be secure.
Ollie was also contacted by CMS Kevin Gemmell with a request for help from the NMRC members to help in some manor at the Air Show 23 & 24 September, 2006. We will put out this information to all our members in the July minutes. If anyone has interest in helping call Kevin at 402-309-7102.
Fred was asked if he had any information for a briefing from the AG for Lincoln and Omaha areas retirees. He said none at this time, he will contact COL. Schuurmans to see if the AG's office has plans to do one this year.
As there was no more business to come before the Council, the meeting was adjourned.
Jerry Chenoweth
