Twenty-three members of the House of Representatives have signed a letter to BRAC Commission Chairman Anthony Principi requesting a hearing to address enclaving of Air National Guard bases. NGAUS posted an alert last week asking members to urge their congressmen to sign onto the letter initiated by Rep. Mike Castle (R-DE).

The news conference facilitated by NGAUS was conducted in Washington May 26, 2005. AGAUS, NGAUS and EANGUS joined a bi-partisan group of senators and representatives to pledge support for BRAC delay and to lay out a series of grievances with the BRAC recommendations presented to the BRAC Commission by DoD. A key new area of great concern by members of Congress is DoDs failure to produce detailed supporting data to the Commission. MG Frank Vavala (DE) did a magnificent job of enunciating the TAGs’ position on BRAC. He was joined at the podium by MG Allen Tackett (WV). The remarks by the three associations are attached. Please check www.ngaus.org for complete coverage of the news conference and late breaking BRAC information.
